Celebrating Prince: Day 5 When You Were Mine

It would be a travesty if I did not add this song to the list. Today's spotlight shines on a gem from the 1980's album Dirty Minds titled, "When You Were Mine".

It quickly became a favorite among Prince's funkiest fans, so much so that it is no wonder that it was covered five years later by none other than Cyndi Lauper. Along with "Gotta Broken Heart Again," it was easily my favorite song on the album.

Surprisingly, this radio-friendly track was not released as a single, which I find interesting because it is sandwiched on the album between "Dirty Mind," and "Do It All Night." With tracks like those, one would think that this was a no-brainer for radio release.

Michael Jackson: Before & After Thriller

As you may know by now, Michael Jackson will be on the December 2007 issue of Ebony Magazine. They are showcasing him 25 years after "Thriller".

I commend him on still trying to be out there after years of controversy and court cases, but I wish the man had stayed out of the plastic surgeon's office.
