The Longshots: Coming Soon

I'm not sure how I feel about this one. The summary does nothing for me at all, but the trailer makes me think this is a cute 'feel-good' movie.

I'm thinking I'll wait for this one to go to DVD.
Summary: Ice Cube stars as Curtis Plummer, a down-on-his-luck former high school football star, who turns his niece, Jasmine (KeKe Palmer), into the quarterback of the local children's football team, the Minden Browns.

After putting in some work with Jasmine, she picks up the sport quickly and he gets his stride back as team coach and as his ponytail-wearing star helps lead his team of misfits to victory.

  1. I am tired of these "Feel good based on a true story they did the impossible" sports movies.

  2. You and me both. I like the realistic stories where they lose the big game and go home like 'WTH was all that about?' LOL Then they can go back and try it all again. Now that's real.

  3. sHaE-sHaE, I'll definitely have to wait for the DVD on this one. The ruggedness in the beginning didn't do anything to drag me in, though it seemed to become more interesting toward the end.

I'm sure it has a particular audience in mind...just didn't include me.

A couple of weeks ago, I heard it was based on a true story and was half-way interested. Hopefully, they didn't dumb it down for the movie, and the real life version was more inspirational.

Usually, a trailer will highlight the BEST parts of the movie, if that was the best they had, I'll need lots of popcorn in order to get through the crudeness.
