Cyber racists decided it would be fun to hack into the sites of SOHH.com and AllHipHop.com last Friday. The sites were initially penetrated through their forum pages.
Both sites were forced to temporarily shut down while they dealt with fake racist articles and headlines spouting racial slurs.
Personal information belonging to SOHH.com workers was swiped causing them to distress about the possibilities of identity theft.
A statement was issued on Friday by AllHipHop.com co-founders Chuck Creemur and Greg Watkings:
"AllHipHop and SOHH, two pioneering Web sites that have been in the industry for over 10 years, are appalled by the unprovoked racist attacks of these cyber terrorists.
With all the social strides that we have seen for several years, it is sad to see that this sort of blatant, hateful racism still exists in 2008 — a time of tremendous possibility.
Together, AllHipHop and SOHH are committed to relentlessly pursuing these attackers, using every resource available, to ensure the capture of these criminals and prevention of repeat offenses."
The hackers were specifically targeting African American, Hispanic, Asian and Jewish youth who declared themselves hip-hop fans.
SOHH.com CEO Felicia Palmer warned that the matter is “an international issue, [that] is being addressed by the FBI and the Strategic Alliance Cyber Crime Working Group.”
I hope they are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
