If you’re in the Atlanta area, don’t miss the National Black Arts Festival. Although it’s a year-round celebration, I thought I’d give you a heads up on the happenings for the summer.

Actress Angela Bassett will be in the house on July 21st a retrospective of her work and she will also have a chat with Pearl Cleage.
And be sure to catch the special screening of Dance Beyond The Steps: Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater at this year’s 2008 Pan African Film Festival.
Alvin Ailey Artistic Director, Judith Jamison will speak to author and playwright Pearl Cleage after the screening. Ms. Jamison will speak on her journey from Primary Dancer to Artistic Director of one of the most celebrated contemporary dance companies in the world.
