Flashback 2005:

The word is out that R&B singer Houston, known for his hit single "I Like That" featuring DTP rapper Chingy and Nate Dogg, has attempted suicide by trying to jump out of a 13th-floor hotel window but was stopped by his security personnel.

Houston was moved to a lower floor in his hotel and locked in his room. He later injured himself by trying to gouge his own eye out. The L.A. native, born Houston Summers IV, had been overseas for a series of performances when the incident occurred.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Houston during this tragic time," said a Capitol Records spokesperson in an official statement.

Los Angeles radio station KKBT-FM's K-Sly, who appeared in the "I Like That" video and is close to Houston's camp, said the singer was under psychiatric care sometime last year for manic depression.
