As the First Family celebrated Jenna's exchange of vows, on the other side of the world 5,000 people lost their lives in a 7.8 magnitude earthquake in central China.
A massive earthquake struck central China, and as many as 5,000 people were killed in a single county while nearly 900 students were trapped under the rubble of their school. 80% of the buildings have collapsed in Beichuan county Sichuan province.

The last earthquake in China this serious hit the area in 2003.
3 men have taken their lives in Japan in an apparent suicide pact. Police found the three men dead in a car parked outside a spa -- they are the latest in a string of suicides involving detergent.
The media has reported more than 60 deaths across Japan in the last month by mixing detergent with other chemicals, and inhaling the hydrogen sulfide gas that is produced by the mixture.
Recently, Japanese police enforcers had to contact Internet service providers to take down the recipe for the detergent mix as a rash of detergent suicides hit the area.
But, well before this 'detergent suicide' craze, Japan had one of the highest rates of suicide in the world.
