Spotlight: Karina Pasian

16-year-old Dominican-American Karina Pasian is on the ride of her life.

When the singer/pianist was ust 13, while most kids her age are at the mall, she was in the midst of a major bidding war between Def Jam Records, Interscope and Bad Boy Records.

So who did she roll with?

"I wanted to go with Def Jam because they made the best offer," says the New Yorker. "The only request I voiced was that my music have integrity, and that my songs have messages, morals and values."

Out of the mouths of babes right?

Her debut album, “First Love” will drop on June 3rd. Her first single, "16 @ War," entered the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart at No. 93 last week. Not too bad at all.

Karina has been looking forward to a music career all her life. She took piano lessons since the age of three; at four she began dance classes and in kindergarten began studying classical music; at eight, she met her vocal coach, who still trains her today.

At the age of 11 she met Quincy Jones and he invited her and her family to his Bel-Air home after hearing her home recordings.

If she looks familiar to you at all, maybe you caught her in a 2003 performance on "Star Search," (which she won by the way). Or perhaps you caught her performing at the White House when she sang for the president last year?

I told you this girl was hot! Karina has also done what many musicians are doing lately to ensure a #1 hit, she’s teamed up with Ne-Yo in the studio, as well as the Dream, and John Legend. She has over 70 songs recorded to date and has no intentions of losing momentum.

Keep an ear to the street for this young lady.
